WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that and we often enter this state quite naturally, as we pass through the “deep relaxation” when going to sleep at night, and when waking up in the morning. It can be defined as an altered state of awareness, Day dreaming is another example of trance which we may all be familiar with.
Hypnosis is rather like being awake while sleeping, whilst the mind and body are very comfortable and relaxed, yet fully aware of everything around you. It gives you a feeling of complete security, well-being, contentment and relief from tension. It’s a very relaxing experience, if you allow yourself to just let go and make the most of the experience.
HOW HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOU
Clinical Hypnotherapy (which is what I practice), is a natural and effective technique that allows you to gain access to your subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is an altered state of awareness and consciousness that we generally refer to as ‘trance’ or ‘a trance like state’. It is a research based complementary therapy that utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviours by making changes to thought patterns and re-program unhelpful or negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours to positive and neutral pathways. It is important to know and accept that whilst you are in a hypnotic trance you are in control of your thoughts and actions.
Clinical hypnotherapy, when practiced by a qualified therapist, is an absolutely safe therapeutic tool, endorsed by the BMA, and is often successful when other more conventional treatments have failed.
I must mention, however, that there can be no guarantee of specific results and that the results can vary.
